Concerts at the Commons

 

From folk rock to the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, the Columbus Commons is the official Downtown home for concert fans this summer. We produce a musical mix of free shows and rent the park to others to produce a variety of ticketed events that equates to no shortage of concert activity at the Commons.  Check out the line-up and join us at the city’s center!

Free Concert ft. Saintseneca
Friday, May 20, 5 pm to 9 pm
Produced by CDDC
Join us for a kick-off to the season with live music after work, featuring spirits and food trucks, in partnership with the City of Columbus’ Bike to Work Day celebration. Saintseneca is an American-folk rock band from Columbus; fans will catch them at the Forecastle Music Festival in July.

Free Concert ft. Phil Dirt and the Dozers 
Friday, May 27, 7 pm to 10:30 pm

With their musical talent, high energy and contagious sense of humor, Phil Dirt & The Dozers will take you back through decades of rock and roll history. Enjoy a fun evening in the park while listening to hits from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s.  Bar and food trucks will kick things off at 6pm. Long Tall Deb opens at 7pm.

Bigger than Jesus: Beatles Tribute
Sunday, May 29, 7:30 pm to 10:30 pm

Go back in time to celebrate The Beatles. Shadowbox Live pays homage to the pivotal band, as well as the life and times of the era. Bar and food trucks will kick things off at 6pm. Matt Monta and the Haymakers will kick things off at 7:30pm, followed by the Shadowbow Live performance at 8:30pm.

Free Concert ft. The Navigators 
Friday, June 3, 7 pm to 10 pm

Free event featuring The Navigators, a group comprised of Columbus executives and professionals playing high-energy rock tunes from the 1960s to today. Since their formation in 2003, they have helped to raise more than $200,000 to help local and national charities such as the City Year Columbus, United Way, Salvation Army, Mid-Ohio Food Bank, Hilltop YMCA, the American Red Cross, and more. Food trucks and bars will open at 6 pm. Concert beings at 7 pm. 

Free Downtown Live Concert Series 
5:30 pm to 10:30 pm

Unwind after work, enjoy a frosty beverage, and dig into the local music scene at the world-class Columbus Bicentennial Pavilion at Columbus Commons. Thursday nights in July at the Commons provide a perfect kick-off to the weekend. Concerts are free, begin at 5:30pm, and end by 10:30pm. Bar and food trucks open at 5pm. Plus, be sure to check out the Downtown Marketplace, featuring local artisan vendors.

Free Concert ft. McGuffey Lane

McGuffey Lane's high-energy rock, country and contemporary music have been attracting attention throughout Ohio and the Midwest for nearly 20 years. But this veteran band remains fresh and innovative, redefining itself with an infusion of new talent that blends perfectly with the bands established style. Ever since their magical 'break" when the band was playing the Ohio State campus years ago and got discovered and signed to a record deal, McGuffey Lane has built their career on music which has been both artistically and commercially successful, leading the group to tours with The Charlie Daniel's Band, The Judds, Marshall Tucker, and The Allman Brothers. Local band Grassinine will open the show.

A Tribute to Joe Cocker: Mad Dog and Englishman

Sunday, September 4, 7 pm to 10 pm
Shadowbox Live presents a unique performance honoring one of the most well-loved rock and blues singers of our time with A Tribute to Joe Cocker: Mad Dog and Englishman. Shadowbox Live will perform two hours of music from Joe Cocker’s prolific career. Bar and food trucks will kick things off at 6pm.

Lawn chairs and blankets are welcome at these events, but please leave coolers at home. Easy and convenient parking is available just south of the park at the Columbus Commons Main Garage, located at 55 East Rich Street. Remember that your patronage of the Columbus Commons Garages helps to make our free events possible!

Green Columbus Earth Day Celebration
Saturday, April 23, 1 pm – 10 pm
The Columbus Downtown Development Corporation welcomes the Green Columbus Earth Day Celebration at Columbus Commons. The celebration, which will run from 1pm to 10pm, will feature your favorite local bands, food trucks, kids' activities, environmental groups and businesses, and much more. Bring your friends and family for a full day of fun in the heart of downtown Columbus. Enjoy free carousel rides to kick-off the season from 1pm to 7pm, presented by CDDC.

Live Nation Concert, Taste of Chaos Tour
Friday, June 10, 5:30 pm to 11 pm
The Columbus Downtown Development Corporation welcomes the Live Nation Taste of Chaos Tour to Columbus Commons.  The Taste of Chaos Tour will rock the Columbus Bicentennial Pavilion with acts like Dashboard Confessional, Taking Back Sunday, Saosin, and The Early November. Gates open at 5:30pm.

Picnic with the Pops

The Columbus Downtown Development Corporation welcomes the Columbus Symphony Orchestra to the Columbus Commons for their 5th season of Picnic with the Pops, which will be announced soon. Picnic with the Pops is a chance to see some of today's most popular entertainers performing with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra. The casual outdoor evening performances are a great opportunity to see a show under the stars. Gates open at 6pm, and the concerts start at 8pm.

Popcorn Pops
Friday, July 22, 7 pm to 8 pm
The Columbus Downtown Development Corporation welcomes the Columbus Symphony Orchestra to the Columbus Commons for a special family concert recommended for children ages 3-12. Children will enjoy free popcorn and free pre-concert activities including face painting, art projects, playing with musical instruments, and the Columbus Commons Family Fun Zone with inflatables and open play activities. Gates open at 5:30 pm. Pre-concert activities will be available from 5:30 to 6:45 pm. Concerts begin at 7 pm and run for approximately one hour, followed by a free movie at 8:15 pm presented by Columbus Commons.

Food Truck Festival

The Columbus Downtown Development Corporation welcomes the Columbus Food Truck Festival to Columbus Commons. The festival includes over 40 local and regional food trucks, in addition to arts and craft vendors, live music, and other entertainment. New this year: free to the public Friday and Saturday from 12pm to 6pm; entry fee after 6 pm.

The Columbus Downtown Development Corporation welcomes the 90’s Fest to Columbus Commons. A concert, featuring well-known acts popular in the 90s, will be debuting for the first-time in Columbus. Produced by Prime Social Group. Acts include: Sister Hazel, Bone Thugs N Harmony, Vertical Horizon, Sisqo, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Saved by the 90s, and RATM2 - hosted by Pauly shore.
